Who can see my plan?
Short answer
- Is a private event really private?
- Yes. A private event is visible only to the people you invite, and only they can join. It does not appear in discovery, the city list or search results.
- Can I change the visibility later?
- The visibility type is chosen when the event is created. Rather than changing it afterwards, editing the guest list is safer: Manage participants on the event page does that.
- Can I pick Contacts and Followers together?
- Yes. Those two combine and both circles see the plan. Private and Public, on the other hand, are each picked on their own.
The first step of creating a plan is one question: who will see this? There are four options and each means something exact.
Contacts
People in your phone contacts who use innclude can see your plan. Someone in your contacts who does not use innclude will not, because they have no account to see it with. Choosing this type makes the app ask for contacts permission; why it asks is covered in Contacts permission.
Private
Only the people you invite can see and join. It never enters discovery, the city plans list or search. A private plan has one special behaviour: it is not saved until you select guests, so no empty plan is left behind.
Followers
People who follow you can see it. This is independent of a contacts match: someone who follows you sees the plan even if they are not in your contacts.
Public
Everyone in the city can see it. The plan enters the Plans in your city list and search results.
The combination rule
Contacts and Followers can be selected together; tick both and both circles see the plan. Private and Public are each selected on their own: ticking one clears the others. The logic is simple, since those two are opposites; a plan cannot be open to invited people only and open to the whole city at the same time.
How to choose
One question is enough: would it be a problem if someone you did not invite turned up? If yes, Private. If no, Contacts, which is where most plans land.
